Surprise surpise but Kerry Wood has a partially torn rotator cuff. There are two options, number one, let it heal on it’s own which will take 4-6 weeks and then a long rehab process. Or the other option is to scope it and repair it surgically which will definately take him out of the season. Either way, he’s likely done for the year.Wood hadn’t thrown in an MLB game since the 6th of June yet was still never the same this season from his return off of the DL. In his four starts, he never threw more than 86 pitches, and never displayed his full range of abilities. In his attempts to comeback after his “stiffness” in June, Wood would hit an imaginary wall around 60 pitches. I hate to say it but Wood seems destined to head to the bullpen in the near future. With his injuries the Cubs might take a look at re-signing him to a reduced/incentive deal after declining his option.
