Carlos “El Torro” Zambrano takes the mound against the Giants today as the Cubs look to extend their undefeated spring season.

The batting order is going to look a little something like this, at least to start the game…

LF - Alfonso Soriano (spring debut)
    SS - Ryan Theriot
    RF - Kosuke Fukudome
    1B - Derrek Lee
    2B - Mike Fontenot
    CF - Felix Pie
    3B - Alex Cintron
    C - Henry Blanco
    SP - Carlos Zambrano

What to watch for: It should be good to see how Pie plays today and specifically if he can keep hitting like he did yesterday. Also, I know its early, but Mike Fontenot sure does look like he wants to make the team out of ST.

Sounds like a winner to me… Feel free to post any/all comments regarding the game in the comments section, and I think I’ll post my game recap in the comments as well.

    Roundup Corner…February, Just the Beginning

Although the regular season has yet to start, there’s plenty to recall about the month of February.

100 Years - Ok, lets just get this one out of the way. Yes, this year marks the 100 year anniversary of the last time the Cubs won a World Series. Not much of an anniversary and Lou Piniella has made it clear that it’s nothing to indulge over.

Ryan Dempster made the honors of making a statement that the Cubs will end its 100-year championship drought. Although a lessoned learned by Carlos Zambrano from the previous year, some may think that Dempster just jinxed the Cubs realistic chances of making it that far. Forget the curse of the Billy Goat, it has become the era for the curse of Bold Predictions.

2/28 Call off that fishing trip for October… the Cubs are undefeated!

OK, so its just the first spring game, but the Cubs sure did look good.

A couple different position players had a great game for the Cubs and the pitching wasn’t too shabby either.

Read more to see who did well, who played horrible, and who gets the CubsHub ‘player of the game’ award.

Here it is… the first game of the season. Yes, I know its only a spring game, but it still feels good doesn’t it? Before I head out into the Midwest cold weather climate I figured I’d post today’s lineup. Any comments/discussion of today’s game can take place in the comments thread.

    Batting Order:
    SS - Ryan Theriot
    3B - Ronny Cedeno
    RF - Kosuke Fukudome
    1B - Derrek Lee
    RF - Matt Murton
    C - Geo Soto
    2B - Alex Cintron
    CF - Felix Pie
    SP - Ryan Dempster

    Sounds like a winner…

The Texas Rangers have Lost Their MIND!

Evan Grant, of The Dallas Morning News recently did a Q & A in regards to a bunch of things that have little to do with the Cubs, minus the one snippet below in which he discusses trade possibilities with the Cubs.

The quotation, as well as my two cents, can be found in the ‘read more’ section as well as some other Cubs related news and notes.
