    In a possible October preview, the Chicago White Sox used 3 home runs & a strong outing from Mark Buehrle to beat the Chicago Cubs 5-1 & complete a 3-game sweep from U.S. Cellular Field.

    The White Sox & Cubs have split 6 games this season with the home team winning each game. The all-time series after 11 years is tied dead-even, with both Chicago teams winning 33 games apiece.

    Day 5 of the 2008 Crosstown Classic: Carlos Quentin’s late HR leads Sox to 6-5 win over Cubs…

    In a game that featured 2 ties & 3 lead changes, the South Siders were able to display a bit more punch than their North Side counterparts.

    The Chicago White Sox beat the Chicago Cubs 6-5 on a 7th inning Carlos Quentin home run on Saturday afternoon from U.S. Cellular Field, which sets up the possibility of a sweep tonight just a week after the Cubs swept the Sox at Wrigley.

    Cubs Magic Number (6/28)

    The Cubs’ Magic Number heading into play today is 78.

    For those who have not heard of the term ‘magic number’ here’s a quick tutorial.
         “In certain sports, a magic number is a number used to indicate how close a front-running team is to clinching a division title. It represents the total of additional wins by the front-running team or additional losses by the rival team after which it is mathematically impossible for the rival team to capture the title in the remaining games.”

    Day 4 of the 2008 Crosstown Classic: Nick Swisher’s grand slam leads Sox to 10-3 win over Cubs…

    What a difference 6 days makes for Jose Contreras.

    Last Saturday at Wrigley Field, Contreras gave up 9 runs in the 4th inning en route to a 11-7 loss. But today, Contreras got plenty of run support during a 7-run 3rd inning which lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 10-3 over the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon from U.S. Cellular Field.

    Orioles put together 5-run fourth inning, go on to beat Cubs 11-4….

    Baltimore’s 1st trip to Wrigley Field in their 54-year history turned out to be a successful one.

    Despite leaving 19 men on base, the Baltimore Orioles scored 11 runs on 13 hits en routeto an easy 11-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday afternoon from Wrigley Field.
