It’s a little late, but better than never. Midseason has rolled on past us and I thought it would be a good time to assess who the Cubs’ Top Ten Prospects are at this point. There are a couple of new faces, a few who have fallen off course, a couple that have been promoted, but of course there are still a few familiar faces. The biggest surprise of the minor league first half had to have been Jake Fox’s juggarant offensive number. He would have been high on this list if not for his now MLB status. It was somewhat of a strange day for Chicago Cubs’ rookie starter Kevin Hart.
He pitched 6 solid innings & got plenty of run support during a 12-3 thrashing over the Houston Astros on Thursday afternoon from Wrigley Field before hearing the news that he’d been traded to Pittsburgh.
Jose Ascanio along with minor leaguer Josh Harrison will head to the Pirates, as southpaws John Grabow & Tom Gorzelanny will become the 2 newest members of the Cubs. Read more… »

In Hendry’s latest takings from Pittsburgh, the Cubs acquired their bullpen lefty in Grabow along with young lefty Gorzelanny who’s had an up and down career. In exchange, the Cubs give up a UT Josh Harrison along with RHP Kevin Hart and RHP Jose Ascanio.

Randy Wells has to certainly be pleased with the run support he’s been getting lately.
The Chicago Cubs backed their rookie starter with a huge six-run 1st inning, which helped them cruise to a 12-0 shutout win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon from Wrigley Field.
The win was costly though, as outfielder Reed Johnson broke his left foot & will be sidelined for up to a month. Read more… »
