The good news for Rich Harden is that he will remain in Chicago for the rest of the season, as Minnesota was unable to pull a deal in time to acquire him for their pennant race.
The bad news is that Harden was unable to help the Cubs improve their lengthy division & Wild Card chances, as the Houston Astros got three early runs off him & wound up winning 5-3 on Monday evening from Wrigley Field. Read more… »

On Sunday afternoon, 35-year old Nelson Figueroa did Johan Santana proud.
Starting in place of the injured two-time Cy Young award winner, Figueroa stuck out a season-high 10 batters in 7 strong innings to help the New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 4-1 from Wrigley Field. Read more… »

Alfonso Soriano finally hit his first home run in the month of August on Friday, and it turned out to be an important one at that.
Soriano’s go-ahead 3-run blast in the 8th inning lifted the Chicago Cubs to a 5-2 win over the New York Mets from Wrigley Field. Read more… »
