    From MLBTradeRumors…
“The Cubs have now asked the Rangers for permission to speak with hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo, according to MLB.com’s Carrie MuskatBruce Miles of the Daily Herald says the Cubs are still discussing a possible Milton Bradley trade with a number of teams, though no move appears imminent… Miles expects the Cubs to lure hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo away from the Rangers.  ” - RYAN’s take: Seems like great news. This is the same person who was able to turn around the Andrew Jones debacle last season, which is a good sign that theres a lot that he can bring to the Cubs. Keep in mind, however, that he cant fix everyone… For example Chris Davis had a horrible year last year despite big expectations, which given Jaramillo’s track record, would indicate that he cant do much with players who arent willing to change or adapt to the suggested changes.

    Chone Figgins… playoff failure?

A lot of people will be expressing their interest in Figgins this offseason, including the Cubs, but here’s a reason that the Cubs might want to back down their pursuit of the soon-to-be free agent…

“In 29 games in nine playoff series since 2002, Angels 3B Chone Figgins is batting .182 (18 for 99) with a .214 on-base percentage, 11 runs, four stolen bases, five runs batted in, 32 strikeouts and only three walks. – LA Times

Just a little food for thought I suppose.

    From Ben Maller…
“Sources familiar with Matt Holliday’s thinking recently set long odds for the left fielder bypassing free agency by agreeing to a long-term deal with the Cardinals before the market opens. – St. Louis Post-Dispatch …..Ben’s Take: Holliday is the favorite to replace Jason Bay at Fenway.”

RYAN’s take: Great news for Cubs fans here, as it’ll probably drive up the cost on Holliday and limit what the Cards can do this offseason.

“The Cardinals retain interest in bringing back Mark DeRosa, who will undergo surgery later this month to repair a torn tendon sheath near his left wrist. DeRosa suffered the injury within a week of his June trade from the Cleveland Indians and said last weekend that he will seek several opinions before scheduling surgery near his Atlanta home. – St. Louis Post-Dispatch

After the jump Ive got more trade rumors and some Cubs related links from around the web…
